OUR MISSION
The Hyperion Historical Alliance (HHA) is a professional organization that seeks to advance member-initiated projects related to Disney history. Although unaffiliated with The Walt Disney Company, the HHA is made up of members with longstanding career, archival, professional, academic, and heritage connections to Disney.
As an official 501(c)(3) non-profit association, the Hyperion Historical Alliance independently works to preserve documents, artwork, and other material related to Disney history. Vetted members with professional interests actively network to identify opportunities for finding and preserving material at risk of being lost to time, neglect, or decay.
From identifying obscure artwork to locating unpublished diaries, autobiographies, or correspondence related to the creative talent who worked with Walt Disney, the HHA enhances and strengthens the historical record otherwise preserved by The Walt Disney Company. HHA’s members actively contribute to Disney scholarship through publications, documentaries, and other projects.
One of the ways the HHA fulfills its mission is through two primary publications that enrich the research database and historical record for Disney history:
HYPERION HISTORICAL ALLIANCE ANNUAL
An annual, multi-author, anthology featuring extensively researched essays written by selected HHA members showcasing various Disney history topics.
HYPERION HISTORICAL ALLIANCE MONOGRAPH SERIES
A single-topic journal featuring an in-depth history on one subject, authored by one or two HHA members, and heavily illustrated with rare photos and art (much of it never previously published).
The publication goal is to be as historically accurate as possible while debunking myths and rooting out imprecisions in the Disney historical record. Both publications are published in association with Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, and are available to the general public on Amazon.
HHA is not affiliated with The Walt Disney Company, Disney Enterprises, Inc., or any affiliates. HHA’s non-Disney content may not be copied or redistributed without prior consent of the HHA.
